Shell has been forced to remove life-sized cut-outs if women from gas stations in Malaysia after men groped them.
Carton cut-outs featuring a female Shell employee wearing a headscarf and giving the thumbs up were placed next to the dispenser at stations across Malaysia.
After the company noticed a number of social media publications featuring pictures and videos of men kissing the figure or grabbing her chest, they have decided to remove all figures.
“We do not condone this disrespectful act, which is completely against the culture of Malaysians and Shell’s core values. The (cardboard cut-outs) will be removed from all our sites with immediate effect,” said Shell.
There are over 950 Shell stations across Malaysia, serving nearly a million customers each day, according to the company.
